How to get started with DBUpdateTool

  1. Start Excel.
  2. From the Add-ins tab of the ribbon menu, find DBUpdateTool and click the New button.
  3. A dialog for selecting the save destination of the Excel file will be displayed. Select any location.
  4. Please wait for a while as the initialization of the Excel workbook is completed.
  5. When the "Introduction" sheet is displayed, enter the connection information to the database in the "Config" sheet.
  6. Enter the information to connect to each database in the Value column.

    For example, when connecting to Oracle

    DBType = "Oracle"

    DataSource = "Any server name or IP address"

    PortNumber = "optional"

    DatabaseName = "optional"

    UserID = "User ID required for database connection"

    Password = "Password required for database connection"

    DefaultSchemaOrUser = "Specified schema or user"

  7. Add a new sheet.
  8. Make the name of the added sheet the table name of the database you want to refer to.
  9. From the "DBUpdateTool" add-in, click the "Header Operation"-> "Create Header" button.
  10. Now you can operate the database table from DBUpdateTool.
  11. After creating the header, the table name is displayed in the "A1" cell, so you can freely change the sheet name.
